The market was up again on Thursday, so we’ll continue to look at some of the stocks that have some interesting patterns.

Exterran Holdings (EXH) had a great day on Thursday. Going back as far as August, Exterran had a clean triple-top that was broken with a price-volume surge and a breakaway gap. The volume on Thursday was the second best this year. It had a good closing at the upper end of the range, up 2.33 to 14.44, or 19 1/4%, on 1.2 million shares traded. At this point, it looks like it could get up near the 18 – 19 zone, our swing-trade target.

MetroPCS Communications, Inc. (PCS) had a big day as well. This stock popped big time after running up in a rising channel since the beginning of the year. On Thursday, it gapped up, and ran hard, closing at the upper end of the range, jumping 1.42, or 13.8%, on 15.3 million shares. It had a huge gap up, and then a snapback move that was taken out on Thursday at 11.39. The  high was 11.88, although it closed at 11.70. The next target is set near the 13 1/2 area.

SodaStream International Ltd. (SODA) had a big day, up 2.76 to 41.79, or 7%, on 1.2 million shares. That’s the best volume in a couple weeks. Not only that, it popped up and through the 2 1/2-week channel, and if it can get up through resistance at the 43 – 45 zone, that would signal that it’s about to move into the high 40’s, low 50’s.

Tyler Technologies (TYL) is another one of our Top 20 for 2012. It’s accelerated and gone up to and through the channel top, pulled back, and spiked up on Thursday 2.41 to 38.99, or 6.6%, on 321,000 shares. That’s not especially strong volume, but for that stock, it’s not bad. The highest in about 3 or 4 weeks. This stock may accelerate into the mid- to high-40’s since it’s in all-time high territory.

Other stocks in our Charts for the Day are Smith Micro Software, Inc. (SMSI), Leap Wireless (LEAP),Discovery Laboratories (DSCO), Hollysys Automation Technologie (HOLI), Akorn, Inc. (AKRX), Glu Mobile Inc. (GLUU), Halozyme Therapeutics (HALO), Motricity, Inc. (MOTR), TiVo Inc. (TIVO), Sourcefire, Inc. (FIRE).
